National Car Race in Nablus: Palestine's women racers compete

The races saw both men and women compete in separate rounds, with female racers voicing the need for a specialist trainer. "We don't just want to spiritual support of the [Motor Sport] Federation," they said. Better cars are also needed, the women-racers said, to help them achieve higher scores.

Muna Ennab, a racer from Ramallah, said she wished to see more equality between men and women racers, which could only be achieved once "more women join the speed." Women's racing cars, sponsored by the British Council, lack the required power, care, and equipment, she said.

Noor Daod, also from Ramallah, told Ma'an that she expects men and women racers to be equal within four years, receiving the same ranks in races. Self-taught, Daod trains for races with her mother's BMW.

The youngest female racer, Marah Zahalka from Jenin, said she wished to travel the world to compete against international racers and represent Palestine.
